"The sole, eponymous album of this great progressive band was released in May 1970 by the Danish Sonet Records as a pressing of just 1000 copies (and today worth about 500 euros in top condition). lt's worth noting that Puggaard-Muller brothers previously played in great Delta Blues Band. The music of Pan was an ambitious mixture of heavy rock sounds with folk, jazz and classical music and was characterized by great English (and some French) vocals from Robert Lelievre (who sadly committed suicide in 1973), fluid tasteful guitar parts, atmospheric Hammond phrases and loose, but solid rhythm section. This tightly arranged and beautifully produced LP is now regarded as one of the very best rock albums ever recorded in Denmark. Unfortunately, the band broke up in Spring 1971."

"Album released in Spain first of the vocal group 'Marfil'. Really this group was created to develop a project to rescue popular melodic songs and classic of the 60's, -those years being in the collective memory-, but trying to give them a new format and style, which led to the formula 'non stop medley'. The result of this and the second LP released was a resounding success in Spain. Later the avatars of the same group -consisting of two male and two female voices- and of the label marked a very varied career that has lasted however far from the hand of one of the founders, Marino. "David Bowie has switched labels so often his catalog is cluttered with hits compilations, all purporting to be definitive. Since he is one of the few major artists with no compunction against putting all his hits on one disc, they're all excellent, and 2002's Best of Bowie is no exception, no matter which country you live in (brief explanation: sensitive to the needs of fans in different markets, Bowie and EMI/Virgin tailored a different Best of Bowie for every country it was released in -- a collector's and cataloger's nightmare, but the basics apply for each variation). Yeah, there are great songs missing, and it loses a little focus toward the end, but all the big, big hits are here, in great sound and logical sequence. Bowie made more than his share of great albums, but if you just want the highlights, this is as good as Changesbowie in capturing them.

'Afghanistan' is notably a Q65 re-grouping of the band but the line-up looks to be pretty much the same as their 1966 'Revolution' album see my review except for maybe one member. Said to be Q65's second 'proper' release. Tracks here that did it for me are "Love Is Such A Good Thing", their psych gem "Baby Don't Worry", the bluesy "Nobody Knows When You're Down And Out", "I Gotta Move" and "Don't Let Me Fall". Plus, their fourteen-minute "Rock & Roll Medley" is good too - with snippets of some truly great songs from the past like "Long Tall Sally", "Whole Lotta Shakin'", "Jenny Jenny" and "My Babe". Sure noticed that unless you're willing to spend some serious money, that MANY of the titles on the Pseudonym Records label is usually tough to find - most of the time. Nonetheless, this CD is a must-have. ~Amazon
